Garlic soup

This garlic soup recipe is one of our favorites, as it's simple and easy and lets the garlic flourish without being overwhelmed by a ton of other ingredients.

This dish calls for mature garlic but scape soup is also another delicious choice when it comes to garlic soups, with the milder taste of the scapes really shining through.

Eat delicious garlic and lower your blood pressure at the same time

This isn't a recipe but a reminder that working garlic into your diet on a regular basis can have more benefits than just tasting great.

Garlic has been shown to be effective in some studies in lowering mild to moderate high blood pressure. It's not voodoo superstition but science, as the allicin in garlic produces sulfur compounds that interact with the body, meaning garlic may lower high blood pressure for some people.

Not that you need another reason to eat more garlic but there you go!

Quick and easy chicken breasts

These garlic chicken breasts are perfect for when you don't have a lot of time but still want to eat healthy.

Chicken is low in fat and high protein and garlic packs its own healthy punch, with proven benefits for lowering blood pressure and regulating blood sugar.

We love recipes that can be done and dusted in thirty minutes or less and this one definitely fits the bill!

Perfect roasted garlic every time

A cast iron garlic roaster is a great gift for any garlic fan or cook. Granted, it does one thing: roast garlic (well, you can also roast other veggies in it as well) but it does that one thing really, really well.

No more wrestling with hot, messy aluminum foil every time you roast garlic and zero wastage, as you can quickly clean the roaster and it's ready for another go.

Pop it into the oven or on the grill...the end result every time is perfectly roasted garlic with a minimum of fuss and muss.

Garlic and cholesterol

Garlic has long been used in Indian kitchens to pep up spicy dishes; our ancestors appear to have known a lot about its medicinal value. Research now shows that garlic reduces LDL cholesterol, prevents a rise of blood pressure and also avoids the deposition of plaque on the walls of arteries, reducing chances of heart attack and stroke. Garlic contains sulphurous compounds that act as antioxidants and also help with expansion of the blood vessels, keeping blood pressure at a normal level.

Scape soup

Garlic scapes are typically picked off of garlic plants each year -- it's the flower stem that grows -- to make sure garlic heads are big and plump but scapes can be used in many different recipes.

This garlic scape soup recipe is a popular way to cook with scapes, especially if you have a lot on your hands and want to use them up while they're still fresh and tasty.

Clove or a head?

Yes, indeed, a garlic clove is very different from a head of garlic. Confusing a clove for a head of garlic can have pretty disastrous consequences in the kitchen.

A head is huge, cloves come in little clumps.

It depends on the variety, but some heads of garlic have 30+ cloves.

Unless you're roasting garlic, pretty much every recipe will call for a few cloves of garlic, which are the smaller pieces that you break a head into.

Three AMAZING Ways to beat garlic breath!

Love garlic but don't love garlic breath? Then we've got the answer for you:

No more garlic breath

The easiest (and most delicious) way of beating garlic breath is to hang out solely with people who love ad adore garlic but hey, that's not always possible so minimizing its impact might be the better way to go if you want to hang onto your friends and family!

Garlic scape season is upon us!

If you get excited about seeing garlic scapes appear at your local market, welcome to the club of savvy garlic fans that know and love this time of year when scapes are picked off of maturing garlic crops.

Some people are baffled about what to do with scapes but they're actually a versatile way to get a healthy taste of garlic before most garlic crops mature.

Whip up some pesto with them or pile them on a pizza; below you'll find an article outlining just a few of the ways that garlic scapes are cooked and enjoyed:

Garlic pasta and shrimp

This garlic pasta and shrimp recipe is a favorite of mine, as it's quick and easy and doesn't involve a heavy tomato or alfredo sauce.

It's also a great garlic recipe to whip up after work or when time is short. Some recipes are nice to unwind and devote a lot of time to while puttering around in the kitchen but others -- like this one -- are perfect for when you just want to quickly get something done, cooked, and in your belly.

Garlic Lovers Beef

"This is a baked dish that is great with pasta and some crusty bread to absorb all the great tasting sauce. This is my husband's favorite dish, and he eats it with steamed rice or potatoes. If you love garlic, you'll love this recipe. This was also my uncle's favorite dish; I cooked for him when I used to visit him in Seattle as a teenager."
